The Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) organises the XVth International Nidovirus Symposium. The Nidovirus symposium is a traditionally triennial gathering of researchers and scientists active in the field of the Nidoviruses, a broad group of pathogens of humans and animals such as the zoonotic SARS- and MERS-coronaviruses, common cold viruses, and many economically highly relevant livestock viruses. The meeting hence provides a unique international forum for sharing scientific results and exchanging ideas.
Program
The symposium will cover the entire field of the nidoviruses, including an obvious emphasis on the new SARS coronavirus. Speakers will present their most recent and ground-breaking results and scientific insights in the molecular biology, host-pathogen interactions, immune responses to infection, viral immune evasion strategies, pathogenesis, mechanisms of (cross-species) transmission, epidemiology and development of vaccines and antiviral therapies.
The program will consist of :
- 4 plenary sessions (20 speakers)
- 2 breakout sessions with 3 rounds of 4 parallel presentations (altogether 24 speakers)
- 2 poster sessions, each with 2 rounds
- opportunities to separately arrange virtual get-togethers with one or more colleagues for scientific or personal exchange
Researchers are invited to submit abstracts for oral presentation to be selected either for the remaining slots in the plenary sessions (20 min) or for the breakout sessions (15 min).
Abstracts can also be submitted for poster presentation, to be on view during the entire meeting and open for discussion during one of the poster sessions.
